Q&A - Page 4:
Q:
What do you like most about what you do?
TAYLOR: What’s really
fun about this business, in general, is
that it is a people business. And, I am
meeting a whole new group of very interesting
people, different from my previous jobs.
Q: You earned a degree
in Latin American Studies and now you are
in film and TV. How does that relate?
TAYLOR: Well, I speak Spanish
and that helps. And, I can also appreciate
Spanish-language television. The biggest
show, probably in the world, and certainly
in the Western Hemisphere, is on Spanish-language
television.
I majored in Latin American Studies because
I thought I wanted to teach, maybe work
in diplomacy and travel around the world.
But my life just led me to television.
Q: How can someone follow
in your footsteps, get into the business?
TAYLOR: It’s a frequently
asked question and unfortunately there are
no solid answers. It does tend to be a people
business and so you’ve got to meet
people as much as possible. You have to
reach out but you have got to have something
to offer, either in the form of some kind
of creative product, or a script …
some kind of perspective, ideas for movies,
or something.
It is about talent, which can be enhanced
by education. Raw talent isn’t enough.
It has to be professionally disciplined
talent.
