Anchored by the nuanced performances of journalist Bonz Malone and Ishmael Butler — formerly of the hip-hop group Digable Planets — this feature debut from writer/director Mad Matthewz is a sly rebuke to the rampant consumerism and misplaced priorities of contemporary urban culture. Best friends and roommates, Ish and Oz are a pair of boho layabouts who would rather just talk about their band than actually do anything to make their musical dreams come true. Despite a vow to avoid that dreaded nine-to-five, the two eventually realize there’s more to life than just watching TV all day.
