BUILDING CAREERS IN FILM & TELEVISION
(Hollywood, CA ~ A huge part of the 14th
Annual African-American Film Marketplace and
S.E. Manly Short Film showcase is meeting the
filmmakers, seeing a variety of short films
and discussing the process with industry
professionals. On Saturday, October 20, 207
and Sunday, October 21, 2007 from 10:00 a.m.
until 10:00 p.m. at Raleigh Studios ~ BHERC
will screen Short Films, introduce Filmmakers,
conduct Workshop & Panel Discussions, have
Networking opportunities and vendor items
available. The Professional panels featured
this year are as follows:
Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. will be the YOUNG FILMMAKERS
WORKSHOP which offers High School Students and
opportunity to meet and greet working
directors, producers and writers and learn
first hand how the creative process really is.
On the sound stage, from 10:00 a.m. until
12:00 noon DISNEY/ABC WRITING FELLOWS will
share their experiences on breaking into the
business through writing for film and
television. At 1:30 p.m. TIM LAMPROS OF ACTORS
CERTIFIED TRAINING will host an on-camera
training session for all aspiring actors. This
is a film and television town and you must
have the skills to perform in front of a
camera. SISTERS ON THE SET, PART I Seminar
will being at 6:00 p.m. with a panel of
directors who have worked their way to the big
screen and will impart their knowledge of film
with you. From the page to the stage, selling
your script and seeing your project get off
the ground, come listen to what they know for
sure.
Sunday, October 21, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. learn the tricks of trade in
MARKETING YOUR FILM, once you have your film
made, then what? Learn from top notch
marketing professionals the steps to putting
your film into the mainstream of publicity.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m. SISTERS ON THE SET,
PART II will reveal to what it takes to be a
director, how to build working relationships
in the industry, including working with
producers, networks, actors on set, and crew.
3:00 to 5:00 p.m. RICHARD LAWSON will divulge
his secret to MASTERING YOUR CAREER; garner
the tools, skills and expertise to run a
company – YOU. 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The SKINNY ON
SHORT FILMS Shooting a good short film is the
first step to shooting a feature film and
prepares filmmakers about the business of
filmmaking.

Young Filmmakers Workshop:
High school students get the chance to hear
first hand from filmmakers on everything from
editing, writing, producing, directing, and
more. This special workshop will also give
students an opportunity to see some of the
creative work making a difference on and off
the screen.
DISNEY /ABC Writing Fellowship Breaking into
the Business:
Past and present Writing Fellows will discuss
the initial steps into entering feature film
and television writing. Disney/ABC executives
will discuss the training process that the
Writing Fellows go through in preparing them
for the industry.
The panel will be comprised of past/present
Writing Fellows (television/feature).
Many past Fellows are working as
producers/story editors on television shows.
Fellows will discuss how the Writing
Fellowship gives writers the tools to get
started in the business.
Disney/ABC executives from Talent Development
will discuss their various programs.
